Aaron Rodgers Drops Truth Bomb on Davante Adams’ Trade to Raiders

For the first time after signing a contract extension this off-season, the Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his silence on losing his elite WR Davante Adams.

Within a few days Rodgers made up his mind, and Adams was traded to the Raiders, surprising the quarterback as to why the trade took place. In his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers dropped some truth bombs related to his extension and Adams’s trade.

The Packers QB was live on the show when the franchise was making their first-round picks in the 2022 NFL draft. The reigning MVP and Adams shared a close bond with the wide receiver, helping the team exercise their offensive strategies.

For the past eight seasons, Adams was the most trustworthy wide receiver for the franchise. He got traded to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first-round and second-round pick in this year’s draft.

Rodgers believed that his comeback would have helped the Packers strike a deal with Adams. However, it went the other way round, surprising the quarterback.

“It was a little surprising with Davante — obviously when I made my decision, I was still thinking he was going to come back,” Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show.

“I was very honest with him about my plans and my future and where I saw my career going, as far as how many years I want to play. But I felt like he was going to be back, didn’t turn out that way, but I have so much love for ‘Tae and appreciate the time we spent together and wish him the best in Derek [Carr] in Vegas. But that’s a big hole to fill.” Rodgers added to his statements.

Moreover, a week later Rodgers was granted an extension, in a bid to improve the offensive unit of the team, the Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst drafted Christian Watson at No. 34. The franchise sent both of its second-round picks (Nos. 53 and 59) to the rival Minnesota Vikings and acquired the 34th overall pick.

However, Rodgers revealed that he had another draft pick in his mind but was happy to work with Watson in the upcoming season.
