Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday congratulated former Ajax midfielder, Abdelhak Nouri, on his 22nd birthday.
Ronaldo, who will miss Juventus’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie against Ajax on Wednesday night due to injury, also wish Nouri a speedy recovery from his illness.
The Portuguese captain stated this while felicitating with Nouri on the celebration of his 22nd birthday.
“Just to wish you [Abdelhak Nouri] happy birthday and wish that you recover fast,” Ronaldo was quoted by Daily mail as saying on Wednesday.
Nouri suffered cardiac arrest during a pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen in July 2017, leaving him with permanent brain damage.
“It received very bad news regarding the condition of Abdelhak Nouri after doctors at a hospital in Innsbruck woke him from an induced coma,” Ajax said in a post on their official Twitter account.
“Ajax are deeply saddened by the news that Appie Nouri has been diagnosed with serious and permanent brain damage.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his loved ones in this difficult time.”
