In the press conference of the buildup to their fight at UFC 196, Conor McGregor delivered one of the most legendary taunts to Nate Diaz.

He said,” look at Nate. Nate’s last fight, $20,000 to show up, $20,000 to win. Not even a win bonus. His full check wasn’t even a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus… He really should be thankful and be grateful for this opportunity that I’m giving him.” Nate clapped back at Conor and said, “you should be thankful too. You got a bigger check now than fighting Dos Anjos.”

McGregor immediately reacted to Diaz and said,” don’t talk about money you broke bit*h. I can easily switch you up now and put you back on that $20,000 if you want. But all I want is a thank you. Or even a little dance. Even a little dance. Dance for me, Nate. Dance for me. And don’t look me in the eye when you dance.”

Diaz is on the last fight of his current UFC contract and will look for a big paycheck before his exit. A fight against McGregor is the definition of a heft paycheck. This fight makes complete sense.
