Draft Prospect Falls in Love With Patrick Mahomes
Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers might be one of the first pass catchers named in the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night. Flowers now looks to have his eyes set on joining a certain squad.
Zay Flowers, who just worked out with standout quarterback Patrick Mahomes, wants to join the Kansas City Chiefs. Flowers discussed Mahomes during a recent interview on Good Morning Football. He also mentioned the possibility of joining the Chiefs.
“It was crazy. As soon as you even break your route, the ball (is) in your face. I feel like it’s way easier to catch the ball and run with him because you know where the ball’s gonna be,” said Flowers when talking about catching passes from Mahomes.

Following his remarks he made about Mahomes, Zay Flowers delivered a message to Chiefs general manager Brett Veach. In response to Kansas City moving up to choose him, he said, “Just get up there!”
The Chiefs are expected to make a move at wide receiver in the draft. When it comes to the prospects in this year’s class, Zay Flowers may be the best match. With the variety he provides to the offense, he might quickly establish himself as a danger in Kansas City. With him, Kadarius Toney, Skylar Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Kelce, this offense might be exceptional once again.
According to the reports, the Chiefs contacted Flowers and requested him to work out with Mahomes. That is a unique arrangement: Teams often work out prospects at their schools, residences, or training locations, but asking a wide receiver prospect to work out with the team’s quarterback is unusual.
It’s unknown whether any Chiefs coaches, scouts, or other workers are present, or whether Mahomes and Flowers are working out together. Zay Flowers’ words came only days after he earned great accolades from Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Flowers is the betting favorite to be the second wide receiver taken in the draft, behind Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba. If he is still available when the Chiefs pick at No. 31, he might be a significant boost to an already strong offense.
