The beef between Jones and Adesanya, which often involves back-and-forth banter on social media, is something that all their fans are aware of. Despite a difference in their natural weights, Adesanya is willing to chase Jon Jones even up to heavyweight.

Coach Eugene Bareman credits this mentality to Adesanya’s belief in himself, which is way more than how much Jones believes in himself.

“Maybe it does,” the City Kickboxing head coach told Submission Radio on the topic of whether the two fighting at heavyweight stacks the chips in Jones’ favor. “But that’s the difference between the two athletes there.

There’s a lot of differences, but Israel at the end of the day believes in himself and his skill more than Jon does. That’s why Israel is willing to do this after being in the UFC for only a couple of years because he believes in himself and his skills. He’s willing to take risks that Jon was simply never willing to take.”

Coach confident that skill will triumph over weight in the fight against Jon Jones
Jones and Adesanya are in very different places in their UFC careers. Jones has established himself as one of the greatest fighters of all time. Meanwhile, Adesanya still has a long way to go in doing the same.

The middleweight champ has shown that he is very much capable of being one of the best UFC fighters ever when it’s all said and done.

As per his coach, it is Adesanya’s confidence in his skill-set that makes him better than Jones.

“It comes back to exactly what I keep hopping on about. Israel is supremely confident in his skills. The reason he’s goes out there and says it doesn’t matter where Jon Jones sits… is because it doesn’t matter. Isreal believes that he can beat Jon Jones.

Weight is a very small factor in that decision. He’s just supremely confident that his skill, regardless of what weight Jon Jones is, he will be triumphant at the end of the day,” coach Eugene added.

Adesanya is currently eyeing a fight with Jan Blachowicz in the first quarter of 2021. Jones is also bulking up for a shot at becoming a double champ. Given their beef, it looks as if they are on a collision course waiting to go up against each other in the future.
