I Might Miss The Olympics: Roger Federer Doubtful For Tokyo Olympics.

Published

on

World No.8 Roger Federer got off to a great start at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Having defeated Cameron Norrie in the third round of the tournament to advance to the pre-quarters, Roger is in the second week of the Grand Slam and can surely win the tournament this year.

There might be some good news coming for Federer fans. According to some reports, the Swiss maestro has recovered from his knee injury completely and is likely to play at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 where he will be representing his country, Switzerland.

Even though it is just about confirmed that Federer will play in the singles category, there is still skepticism whether he’ll play in the mixed doubles category or not. Usually, he pairs up with Belinda Bencic to play in the mixed doubles category.

This is surely some great news for tennis fans, especially after Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams’ withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

Before this, Federer has taken part at the Sydney, Athens, Peking, and the London Olympics. He didn’t take part in the 2016 Olympics which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Federer’s best accomplishment at the Olympics has been a Silver Medal, which he won in London after Andy Murray defeated him in straight sets in the final. Even though he has participated in four editions of the Olympic Games, this remains his only medal at the biggest sporting event.

Federer looks really fit and fine ahead of the Tokyo Olympics 2021. He’ll surely want to get that missing Gold this year as it might prove to be his last shot at the Olympics. Will he be able to succeed in Tokyo this year?
