I was praying Serena Williams would be okay, says husband Alexis Ohanian

In a recent interview to TIME Magazine, Alexis Ohanian commented again on the issues suffered by his wife Serena Williams just after giving birth. The American player underwent five surgeries, and Ohanian recognized that he was afraid for Serena’s health state after giving birth.

‘It’s a lot to change gears from being really happy and thrilled about bringing this life into the world to having to kiss your wife goodbye and praying she’ll be O.K.’, the Reddit Co-Founder said. During the Wimbledon prize ceremony after her loss to the German Angelique Kerber, Serena sent a strong message to the mums in the world overcoming difficulties.

‘I dedicated that to all the moms out there who’ve been through a lot. Some days, I cry. I’m really sad. I’ve had meltdowns. It’s been a really tough 11 months. If I can do it, you guys can do it too’, said Serena. The 36-year-old still has many goals in tennis, as she assured many times.

‘I’m not done yet, simple. My story doesn’t end here.’ Serena also admitted that she was surprised to get married a white man. ‘I always assumed I’d marry a black guy. I always felt that I could relate more with a black guy, that we’d have more struggles in common, you know?
