Jaguars' LB Fined for Tackle on Chiefs' QB

The NFL has fined Jaguars outside linebacker Arden Key. Arden was involved in the worrying injury to Chiefs’ star QB, Patrick Mahomes after falling on his leg in their 27-20 loss on Saturday.

Mahomes was trapped between Corey Peters and Key, and Key collided with the quarterback, twisting his right ankle laterally. Mahomes practiced fully this week and will play in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Mahomes did exit the divisional round game for 13 plays, and Key was penalized for roughing backup quarterback Chad Henne with 5:27 left until halftime. Key was fined $15,914 by the NFL for roughing the passer.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced five roster changes ahead of their AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

The Chiefs have promoted tight end Jody Fortson from the Reserve/Injury (injured reserve) list to the active roster, as predicted. Marcus Kemp and Ihmir Smith-Marsette have been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game.

They are both expected to be deployed on special teams, with Kemp being one of the top players on that unit. Jerrion Ealy, a hybrid running back/wide receiver, has been dismissed from the practice squad, and La’Mical Perine has taken his place.
