Meet 14-Year-Old Tennis Prodigy Who Aims to Outshine Serena Williams
One will often meet players who take inspiration from Venus and Serena Williams. The success story of the two sisters is amazing, as they have managed to maintain their hegemony in the sport for two decades.
Akashi Robo is a 14-year-old girl who plays some terrific tennis at such a young age. She has won many titles and trophies and has the ability to turn professional soon.
In a recent video, Akashi pointed towards her favorite trophy and said that she had to win three legs in California, New York, and Florida to take it home.
For that, she actually won two calendar years in a row, which is 50+ matches. Surely, not just Serena Williams, but all the tennis fraternity will be quite impressed with her accomplishments.
Interestingly, she won her first national ATA under 12 trophy when she was just nine. In the same video, Akashi also revealed that even though she is 14, she doesn’t compete with the players of her age but with professionals who are aged between 17 to 25 years.
Daily routine of Serena Williams’ future challenger
Akashi begins her day by going to school first and then going to tennis lessons. She has two dogs, Sanji and Leo, who accompany her almost everywhere. Her father, who has been the guide and mentor for her, has played a vital part in her rise until now. He trains her personally and even manufactures tennis rackets himself for her daughter.
In the span of just 14 years, Akashi has played against the Bryan brother, has met Venus Williams, and has even practiced some drills with Andy Murray at the US Open. She is certainly a talented girl and has quite a bright future in tennis.
Her opponents reveal that she has the ability to hit the ball with a lot of power- be it the forehand or the backhand. Apart from that, she can also place the ball really well on the court.
Akashi Robo is surely a prodigy, and even though Serena Williams is 39 at the moment, she can play against her if she turns professional soon. Fans would definitely want to see such an encounter and want her to compete one on one against Serena after listening to her story.
