Meet Chiefs’ Three Signings to Increase Competition at WR

The Kansas City Chiefs checked out a few offensive players on Monday and came away with a few to give extra offseason competition at wide receiver. Former top-ten draft selection John Ross was among the signings.

An under-the-radar talent in Ty Fryfogle and Slade Bolden also worked out. Fryfogle is a former Indiana Hoosier member with a football background. His great-grandfather played at Tennessee, his father at Ole Miss, and Fryfogle himself caught 158 passes for more over 2,200 yards in four seasons in Bloomington.

Fryfogle’s capacity to take his game to the next level has always been a concern, and thus far, the answer appears to be negative. After all, he went undrafted in the NFL Draft in 2022.

While he signed as a rookie free agency with the Dallas Cowboys, he did not make the active roster and was later released. On Monday, Slade Bolden was slated to work out with the Kansas City Chiefs. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero broke the news first.

Bolden was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. He had a sports hernia shortly after signing and was placed on the team’s injured reserve. As a result, he was dismissed in late August.

Now, it looks like he will be looking for a position with the Chiefs as they enter the postseason. The squad has experienced a number of wide receiver injuries, and Bolden might give some much-needed depth. It’ll be intriguing to see whether the Chiefs really sign the former Alabama pass-catcher.
