Novak Djokovic backed to outdo Serena Williams as well as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer

Novak Djokovic has been backed to win more Grand Slams than Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Novak Djokovic is no longer hesitant to call himself the best but has left it to the tennis fans to decide if he is the greatest ever.

Speaking to reporters after lifting his third straight Grand Slam title this year and going level with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s career haul of Majors, the Serbian said he considers himself to be the best.

For him, the choice for the best in men’s tennis is longer a choice but when it comes to deciding the ‘GOAT’ (Greatest of All Time), he concedes that it’s still open for debate. Tim Henman believes that Novak Djokovic will become the best tennis player of all time. History is in Djokovic’s grasp on today, as he took on the Italian Matteo Berrettini on Centre Court in the Wimbledon men’s final with a 20th Grand Slam – equalling the records set by his great rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal – his target.

But former British No 1 and four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Henman reckons there is nothing to stop Djokovic from overtaking the great Australian Margaret Court’s all time record of 24 Grand Slam wins. Serena Williams has won 23, the last of them in 2017 – but in 13 attempts since, including four losing finals, she has not managed to crack the Court record.

Djokovic has already won the Australian Open and French Open this year, and with the Olympics also a target this year, the ‘Golden Slam,’ a win in all four major opens plus earning a gold medal, only previously achieved by Steffi Graf in 1988, is definitely on.
