Novak Djokovic’s Doubters Are Talking Again.

on

Novak Djokovic looks in good form at Wimbledon. While the Serbian is a favorite to win the grass court Grand Slam, he has won the previous two Grand Slams as well in 2021. Although the World No. 1 could clinch a Golden Slam this year, former tennis player John McEnroe sounded a warning for Djokovic.

Djokovic’s dominance at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships is a sight to behold. Although his opening match with Jack Draper went to four sets, he won the next three matches leading to the quarterfinals in straight sets.

With the Tokyo Olympics later this summer, and the US Open after that, Djokovic is on course to claim a calendar Golden Slam. However, three-time Wimbledon champion McEnroe thinks the Serbian could lose at the upcoming Olympics, which would derail him.

He said, “This is my personal opinion, he’s going to lose at the Olympics. Maybe someone can surprise him and then it will wake him up for the US Open and he’ll win it all which will be monumental.”

In addition, the American also pointed out that Federer and Nadal couldn’t achieve the same feat either, which puts more pressure on the World No. 1. “By the way, Federer or Nadal haven’t done it either. It’s been 50-odd years since Rod Laver did it in 1969,” said McEnroe.

Although the ‘Djoker’ is chasing history, he has held all four Grand Slams in at the same time before. McEnroe appreciated his consistency over the years, admitting he’s getting better.

“Novak did hold all four in a row at one stage and I’ll take that any day of the week along with any other player. This is crazy that he’s been this consistently good and arguably better than ever at this age.”
