Patrick Mahomes Gets Over $1 Million After MVP Win

Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has joined an exclusive company of NFL luminaries by winning his second MVP award, within the first 6 seasons his career, which was announced during the NFL Honors program.

Mahomes was unavailable to accept the award since he was preparing for Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he sent a video message thanking him for the honor. The Chiefs superstar earned the MVP title in 2018, and he received 48 of the 50 available first-place votes this season.

Patrick Mahomes by winning the most prestigious NFL individual award, has earned a $1.25M incentive according to Field Yates. Mahomes now wants to break a ‘curse’ that has existed for years in which the MVP who plays in the Super Bowl loses it.

The past few to go through that have gone 0-9, with Kurt Warner being the last to win both the MVP and the Super Bowl, in 1999. Mahomes, 27, is the third player in history to earn his second MVP award before the age of 28, joining Brett Favre (27) and Jim Brown(22).

He also joins Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Johnny Unitas, Kurt Warner, Steve Young, and Joe Montana as players who have earned multiple MVP awards.

In his thank you video, Mahomes commented, “I want to thank God for giving me this platform and putting such amazing people around me that have helped me in this dream I’ve had since I was a kid. Without Him, none of this would be possible.”
