“People Trying to Fu** Us at Every Turn”- Dana White Opens Up on Difficulties Faced to Put On Fights During the Pandemic

It is very refreshing to watch Dana White in a non-UFC setting every once in a while. While fight fans are used to seeing the UFC President at post-fight press conferences and weigh-in face-offs, they got a surprise earlier today as he made an appearance on the Impaulsive podcast, hosted by media personalities Logan Paul, Mike Majlak, and stand-up comedian and podcaster George Janko.

Talking about a wide range of topics from Jake Paul vs. Conor McGregor, free speech, and gender identities in the UFC, White also discussed a vital issue surrounding how he ran the UFC during the pandemic.

Dana White, who persevered to get the UFC up and running in 2020, said, “You have to take a stand and defend your company. I mean, I do it all the time we went through Covid. I went through Covid. You know how much fu***** sh** I got for going through Covid? It was insane.”

“Like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. The media attacking me every day, uh, people trying to fu** us at every turn and uh, you know my belief going through Covid was again, this is America, man. We don’t fu***** rollover, and run and fu***** hide from sh**. We take it head-on, and we figure out solutions to problems.”

He further added, “You know, I’m not gonna die hiding in my fu***** house. This is not me, that’s never gonna be me, and I’m gonna get out there and try to keep my employees employed, keep these guys feeding their families, keep the fighters working, honor their contracts, honor my tv contracts and we did all of that through Covid. And I was the fu***** devil for even fu***** considering going through Covid.”

Running a multi-billion-dollar fighting promotion against the media and public opinion is definitely a hard thing to do. But for his reasons, Dana White went ahead with it.

Dana White on the UFC 249 saga amidst the pandemic
It was no doubt that the UFC was one of the slowest organizations to act towards the pandemic. After garnering widespread criticism for holding a UFC event in Brazil on March 14th, the UFC halted its next three events. However, they wished to restart as early as April.

Dana White had explicitly stated that UFC 249 would happen on April 18th. The Tachi Palace Casino Resort was to hold UFC 249, but the proposed event fell through at the eleventh hour.

Dana White faced a lot of impositions and criticism. The event went ahead, however, on May 9, marking the UFC’s return with an unforgettable fight card.
