Reason Tyreek Hill refused Chiefs’ contract offer revealed As He Breaks Silence

Kansas City sent WR Tyreek Hill to Miami, leaving Patrick Mahomes without his top pass catcher from the 2021 campaign. The move definitely stings for Chiefs fans, but it’s a welcomed surprise for the Dolphins.

Up until Wednesday, there was no indication the Kansas City Chiefs were at odds with Tyreek Hill over a new contract. That changed quickly, as he was traded to the Miami Dolphins in a blockbuster deal.

Talks between the Chiefs and Tyreek Hill broke off in part because Hill wanted to top Davante Adams’ deal by every metric, and Kansas City balked at that. Hill wound up getting what he wanted, just had to go elsewhere to get it.

For that trade to happen, things had to go south with the Chiefs. The two sides had been in talks on a long-term contract, but those talks stalled. Hill wanted to beat Davante Adams’ deal “by every metric,” according to Albert Breer of The MMQB, but the Chiefs were unwilling to accommodate him.

With the news of the trade going public, fans and media have been quick to react. The four-year, $120 million extension makes Hill the highest paid wideout in the game.

Hill posted a letter on Twitter, publicly breaking his social media silence. He thanks the Chiefs for his time in Kansas City while also showing his excitement for what’s to come with Miami.
