Tom Brady Can Put Peyton Manning to Shame by Breaking this Record

Tom Brady has a breath-taking resume, filled with countless records set by him over the course of 22 years. After breaking the NFL passing yardage record of Drew Brees this season, Brady wants to put Hall of Famer Peyton Manning to shame by breaking a record which he once deemed to be impossible to break.

The concerned record here is the most touchdowns scored by a quarterback-receiver combination in NFL history. Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison have held the record ever since the Indianapolis Colts wide receiver retired following his 2008 season.

With 114 touchdowns together during their tenure in Indianapolis, the record seemed to be far from reach of many athletes. This includes 112 regular-season touchdowns and two postseason touchdowns. Manning was asked whether any of his records will stand the test of time at his retirement news conference in March 2016, and the only one he thought would be unbreakable was his record with Harrison.

“I think many records will be broken — most of my records will be broken — I don’t believe that record that me and Marvin have of throwing the most touchdowns together will ever be broken,” Manning said.

Although it will not be long for Tom Brady to put that statement to shame, as he stands on the verge to break that record with the help of none other than Rob Gronkowski.

The Buccaneers lethal duo has now combined for 104 touchdowns, including two touchdown passes to Gronk in Week 13. 90 of which came in the regular season and 14 in the postseason. Although Brady and Gronk are unlikely to reach Manning and Harrison’s regular-season toll. But they can certainly surpass total of 114, combining both regular season and post season.

Brady and Gronks just need to score 11 more touchdowns to break the all-time record. Although it may appear to be a lot, but it may come sooner than expected, thanks to Gronk’s prolific scoring this season. In only seven games, the Buccaneers tight end has six touchdowns. It wouldn’t be surprising if Gronk scored four more touchdowns in Tampa Bay’s last five games at this rate.

Not to mention that Brady in no shape seems to retire any time soon, and so is the case for Gronks as well. And if the two decided to go on for another season together, then only God can save the record from being shattered in a matter of a few games.
