Why Has Serena Williams Not Won a French Open Since 2015?

Not many players have contributed to tennis in the way that Serena Williams has. The American starlet has accomplished a lot in the game, but she still continues to fight for the biggest honors in the sport.

As the tennis world comes closer to the French Open 2021, take a look at Serena Williams’ performances in Paris. In her long illustrious career, the American player has won 23 Grand Slam titles. However, she has managed to win only three Grand Slam titles in the French capital.

Whenever Williams ended up winning the French Open, she was unable to defend her title. The gap between her first (2002) and second (2013) title at Roland Garros was massive. The French Open happens to be the Grand Slam event she has enjoyed lesser success at as compared to the other three tournaments.

Her results since her last win in 2015 have been unimpressive. In the following year in 2016, she came to touching distance but lost in the final. After that, she was unable to play in 2016 as she was pregnant. From 2018 to 2020, her results were making it to the fourth round, third round, and second round respectively.

Nonetheless, Serena Williams has still managed to win three Grand Slam titles at the French Open. Not many players from the current era have managed to do that in the women’s game.

Currently, the American star is in Paris, hoping to lift her 24th Grand Slam title. Only time will tell if she can go the distance and achieve that incredible record.
