Will We See Andy Murray Win A Grand Slam Again?

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray has had a fantastic career on the court. Not only is the British player a three-time Grand Slam winner and gold medallist at the Olympics, but he has also been competitive in arguably the greatest era the sport has ever seen.

If Murray had competed in any other period which did not include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, his Grand Slam tally would have been much higher than it is right now. His talent merits much more major wins.

The former ATP Player of the Year did not compete in the Australian Open this year but he is expected to feature in the three remaining Grand Slams in 2021. His best chance of winning one of those may come at Wimbledon, his home event, where he is 25/1 in the tennis betting.

Murray has worked hard in the off-season to ensure he is as fit as he possibly can be for the new season. He reached the final of the ATP Biella on the Challenger Tour. Those competitive matches will really help him sharpen up his game ahead of bigger events over the next few months.

Injury Struggles Almost Ended Murray’s Career

Sadly, the last few years in the sport have been very frustrating for the Scot. He has struggled with injuries, one of which (hip) almost ended his career. In fact, in January 2019 he announced he was most likely to retire due to the struggles he was going through with the pain from his hip.

Fortunately for tennis fans, Murray recovered well later that year and he decided to remain in the sport. He won his first tournament since having hip surgery when he came out on top in the 2019 European Open in Antwerp.
