Chiefs Legend Congratulates Record Breaking LB

Kansas City Chiefs LB, Nick Bolton may have been overlooked from the Pro Bowl, but he surely made an impact in the team record books this season. With 16 complete tackles against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18, Bolton finished the 2022 NFL season with 180 total tackles.

He surpassed legendary Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson’s previous franchise record of 179 tackles established during the 2011 NFL season. Derrick Johnson tweeted his congratulations to Bolton almost immediately after the game ended.

Johnson wrote “Congrats @_nickbolton2 on breaking my single season record. I’ve been watching you all season long bro, not surprised at all. Love the way you stay alive to be apart of almost every play”, in a post on twitter.

Bolton’s 10th game this season with 10 or more tackles was also a franchise record for a single season in the Week 18 triumph over the Raiders. His 13 career games with 10 or more total tackles rank third all-time among Chiefs linebackers.

Bolton concluded the 2022 NFL season with four less tackles than Jaguars LB Foye Oluokun, who led the league with 184 total tackles. Even with games remaining, the closest player would require 20 total tackles to catch Bolton in second place this season.
