Bobby Miller Gets High Praise From Longtime Teammate

Bobby Miller came onto the scene with a bang when he made his major-league debut against the Atlanta Braves. The 24-year-old threw for 5 innings, allowing only 4 hits and a single run against one of the game’s best offenses.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Miller, who had an ugly stretch in mid-to-late June, but he seems to have righted the ship. Since the All-Star break, Miller holds a 3.16 ERA and a 5-2 record as a starter.

In an interview with Dodgers Nation ‘s Doug McKain, Ryan Pepiot, pitcher and longtime teammate of Miller’s, praised the young pitcher’s transition to the big leagues.

“Bobby’s a stud,” Pepiot said. “There’s not much more you can say about him. He’s just a stud. He’s fun to watch. He’s a competitor. He’s going to go out there and take the ball whenever he’s given the opportunity, he’s going to give everything he’s got. … You can’t really tell that Bobby’s only 23 when he’s out there. He plays a lot more mature. And it’s just really fun to watch.”

Pepiot, who also played with Michael Grove, Emmet Sheehan and other young Dodgers pitchers, said that he has watched every game this season despite being sidelined with an oblique injury. He described watching Miller’s success as “pretty special.”

“It is cool, you come up through the system with those younger guys and you get to see them have success. We all have the same goal and same dreams and aspirations of playing and having success in the big leagues, to see those guys being able to do that, it’s pretty cool.”
