Eagles Release Former Second-Round Defensive Back

Howie Roseman and the Eagles have been quite busy this Saturday morning. For starters, the Eagles released cornerback Greedy Williams.

The former second-round pick from LSU signed a one-year contract with Philadelphia back in March. The Eagles signed Williams with the thought that he could reach his full potential alongside Darius Slay and James Bradberry.

Clearly, that plan didn’t come to fruition. Prior to joining the Eagles, Williams spent four years with the Browns. He had 99 tackles, 12 pass breakups, two interceptions and one force fumble during that stretch.

In addition to releasing Williams, the Eagles let go of punter Ty Zentner. They already have their starting punter in Arryn Siposs.

The Eagles also waived wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, defensive tackle Noah Elliss and cornerback Zech McPhearson with injury designations.

With this newfound room on their roster, the Eagles signed defensive tackles Robert Cooper, Marvin Wilson and Caleb Sanders, as well as linebackers Tyreek Maddox-Williams and Quinton Bell.
