Former Player Says Joe Burrow Is ‘Hurting’ The Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals have found themselves in a precarious situation to begin the 2023 NFL Season. They have a 1-3 record, and now have a difficult road to making it back to the AFC Championship for a third straight season.

While many have pointed fingers at potential explanations for their shortcomings, Greg Jennings recently called out Joe Burrow’s performance.

“When you are a quarterback, you either hurt your offensive line or help them,” Jennings said via the Carton Show, adding, “Right now, Joe Burrow is hurting them.” Through four games, Burrow has been sacked eight times. While this might be an indication to some that the Bengals’ line is letting Burrow down, Jennings believes it is the opposite.

Jennings said that Burrow is “literally a sitting duck.” This makes it difficult for Burrow to make big plays, as he is unable to move around in the pocket and beyond.

By not having a great ability to move efficiently at the moment, Burrow’s ceiling is capped. Until he’s back to full health, Jennings believes it will be difficult for Burrow to help his team win games moving forward.

Something has to change within the Bengals’ offense, it appears. Whether that is the line making changes to assist Burrow during this time, or if Burrow needs to do something different remains to be seen. Regardless, the Bengals are still 1-3. If those changes aren’t made soon, their season could be over before the halfway point in the year.
