Green Bay Packers Solidified Replacement For Fan Favorite Veteran

Rookie kicker Anders Carlson proved today that the Green Bay Packers no longer need Mason Crosby. In the Packers 19-15 win over Seattle in their final preseason game, Carlson blasted a 57-yard field goal that would’ve easily hit from 65 yards.

The veteran Mason Crosby took to social media after being released and had this to say:

The question is: Did the Packers make the right decision, or is it just a matter of time before Crosby is back with the Pack?

Green Bay Packers Legend Crosby

Packer fans have had mixed emotions about Mason Crosby over the last few years. His consistency has been an issue, and let’s face it, he is about to be 39 years old. But fans remember Crosby for his sustained success with the team and his contributions to their Super Bowl XLV victory.

Crosby has hit 81.4% of his career field goals and scored 1,918 points. He is undoubtedly a Packer legend, but the team felt it was time for a change. Last year, he only connected on 1 of 5 field goals from 50+ yards, and that kind of conversion rate won’t cut it.

He proved the organization made the right decision. But make no mistake about it: Ol’ Reliable Mason Crosby is ready and willing to save the day once again if need be. Only time will tell if they made the right decision with Carlson or if they will find themselves begging Crosby to return.
