The Green Bay Packers bounced back in a major way on Sunday as they secured an impressive come-from-behind victory against the New Orleans Saints in Lambeau Field.

The Packers were staring down the barrel of their second straight loss of the new season, but they dug deep to escape with an 18-17 win over the Saints.

Green Bay does not have much time to celebrate the win, though. They now have just a couple of days to prepare for Thursday’s highly-anticipated showdown against NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions. For his part, head coach Matt LaFleur is not taking anything for granted.

He is well aware of what’s at stake in this high-profile matchup, and he has every intention of doing whatever he can to help his team get the W:

“We have a team that we’ve lost to three consecutive times, that knocked us out of the playoffs last year,” LaFleur said, via Mike Spofford of the team website. “It’s an NFC North rival. So, I know what they’re all about.”

As LaFluer indicated in his message above, the Packers have not found much success over the Lions over the past year or so. This is exactly why they plan to tip the scales in their favor come Thursday. It doesn’t help that Green Bay will be playing two games in five days.

However, it’s not as if this is a unique situation for the Packers. They have been in this situation before, and LaFleur knows exactly what to do to prepare his boys:

“Now we’re sitting at Thursday,” LaFleur said Monday. “That’s just the reality of the schedule. “… You’re cramming in a lot of information in a short period of time.

They’ve got to be able to digest all that and still try to get their bodies back as best as possible.” The fact that it’s a rivalry game coming up could work in Green Bay’s favor. After all, this could serve as added motivation during this quick turnaround. We shall find out if this is the case soon enough.
