Matt LaFleur’s Heartbreaking Response to Tyler Davis Season-Ending Injury

Depth charts entering the first week of the preseason are often worthless, particularly for rookies. So many people probably didn’t put too much stock in Tyler Davis being labeled as the Green Bay Packers’ No. 2 tight end on the depth chart rather than Tucker Kraft, the team’s 2023 third-round selection.

However, with Luke Musgrave, a fellow rookie, as the clear-cut starter, it would be unusual if the Green Bay Packers started training camp with two rookies at tight end. Davis, who had appeared in 31 games with Green Bay over the previous two seasons, saw a window of opportunity open up.

Davis grabbed a touchdown in Friday night’s preseason opener as he advances his case to be Green Bay’s No. 2 tight end. Unfortunately for Davis, he was forced to exit the game due to a knee injury.

Davis was diagnosed with a torn ACL, according to NFL Network source Tom Pleissero And according to Packers coach Matt LaFleur, the future isn’t promising. “My heart hurts for him,” LaFleur admitted.

Typically, when a head coach says something regarding one of his players’ injuries, good news does not always follow. In this instance, Davis would very certainly miss the whole 2023 NFL season before it ever begins. A difficult break for the fourth-year player out of Georgia Tech.
