Mina Kimes Sends Strong Message To Chiefs Doubters

The 2023 NFL season didn’t get off to a great start for the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, with Patrick Mahomes and company falling to the Detroit Lions in the league’s season opener.

The Chiefs came into that game shorthanded, with superstar tight end Travis Kelce dealing with a knee injury and star defensive tackle Chris Jones in a contract holdout.

Without two of the team’s best players on both sides of the football, the Chiefs lost to the Lions by one point, which had some wondering if Kansas City had lost a step. In Week 2, the Chiefs were able to get the best of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But it wasn’t a performance to be proud of, with a lot of mistakes and flags making it an ugly game for both teams.

Although the Chiefs are far from playing perfect football right now, ESPN’s Mina Kimes had a strong message for those doubting Andy Reid’s squad after two lackluster weeks on “First Take.”

Kimes has a point, as it is way too early to doubt a team as resilient and as talented as the Chiefs, with Kansas City being one of the most well-coached teams in the league with arguably the best quarterback leading the way under center.

Although it may appear that some elite teams in the AFC are closing the gap with the Chiefs, Kansas City has a knack for being able to turn things around quickly during the regular season, and they might be able to do just that in 2023.
