Patrick Mahomes Rubbishes 'Burrowhead' Trash Talk

The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t wait for their Divisional Round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills to conclude before hurling insults at their AFC Championship opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL Films captured Cincinnati cornerback Mike Hilton calling Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead”. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes heard his next opponent’s trash talk and responded to it during a radio interview.

“Yeah, I mean trash talk is just kinda part of the game. I know our guys will be ready to go and I’m glad we get to play at Arrowhead and see what happens,” Mahomes stated on January 25.

“I mean if you’re not ready to go for this game, then I don’t think anything’s gonna get you ready,” Mahomes continued. “It’s not about bulletin board material, it’s more about trying to get a chance to play for the Super Bowl. That’s everybody’s dream and I know our guys are ready to go try and achieve that dream.”

Mahomes practiced completely for the first time since sustaining a high-ankle sprain in the Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday, January 25. He returned to practice just four days after incurring the injury and appeared to be in decent mental and physical shape based on his news conference prior to Kansas City’s first session of the week.
