Aaron Rodgers Reveals Why He Was ‘Easily Angered’ While With The Packers

Aaron Rodgers explained Thursday why he was so easily irritated while with the Green Bay Packers and why he won’t be with the New York Jets. Rodgers was renowned for expressing his displeasure during Packers games and practices.

Indeed, his huge outbursts were rumored to be a significant reason why he and the New York Jets’ coaching staff did not want HBO’s Hard Knocks to film their training camp this year. Hard Knocks was shooting Rodgers’ news conference on the Jets’ second day of training camp, regardless of the size of his gullet. And Rodgers is putting on a happy front for the media.

According to NFL.com’s Eric Edholm, Rodgers admitted to being a fiery player while with the Packers, but he’s less prone to rage now that he’s in New York owing to his age:

“The teaching part won’t all be on Rodgers, but he established a reputation of being a perfectionist in Green Bay — occasionally displaying his anger when things didn’t go according to plan. Rodgers didn’t deny that’s how he sometimes was with the Packers but insists he’s mellowed with age and wisdom.

“Maybe earlier in my career I was a little more easily angered,” he said. “Now I feel like I’m a little less triggered as I’ve gotten older.”

I don’t believe Rodgers’ message about maturing with age. I’m suspicious because he was still yelling at coaches and teammates last season. Last season, Rodgers was upset with rookie wide outs in training camp.

Several footage of Rodgers becoming agitated during games went viral throughout the regular season. Last season, he shouted at Packers head coach Matt LaFleur during a game against the Dallas Cowboys.
