Adrian Amos Contract Details Have Enraged Packers Fans

Amos, who was a team captain for the Packers last season, signed with the New York Jets in June after four years in Green Bay. Amos met with many clubs before signing with the Jets, who now have several Packers players on their 2022 roster. Amos took a significant price cut from his previous base salary to join Aaron Rodgers in New York.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC, Amos will receive $1.25 million in guaranteed pay. Amos has the possibility to earn a few million dollars extra through incentives.

That’s a great bargain for the Jets. Amos was formerly paid $9 million per year on average base pay by the Packers.

This offseason, the Packers added safety Jonathan Owens as a possible replacement for Amos. Owens’ deal with the Packers is worth $1.01 million. The gap in guaranteed income between Owens and Amos isn’t significant.

Packers fans who wanted Amos back will be disappointed by his new deal with the Jets. Owens is less expensive, but defensive coordinator Joe Barry has stated that Owens will not be a starter this season. Rudy Ford was named as the Packers’ expected starting safety with Darnell Savage by our Lads.

The Packers have enough salary cap room to re-sign Amos. According to Over The Cap, the Packers still have well than $16 million in free agency remaining. It doesn’t make sense that the Packers wouldn’t try to re-sign their team leader for a fraction of his previous salary unless they were ready to move on.
