Andy Reid Gives Troubling Update on Chris Jones’ Contract Holdout

The Kansas City Chiefs have been at training camp for two weeks, and All-Pro defensive lineman Chris Jones has failed to report due to a contract extension. And, according to head coach Andy Reid, there is no schedule for Jones’ arrival.

Jones faces a $50,000 punishment for each training camp practice he misses. Jones had skipped 19 training camp practices as of August 7, amassing a total of $950,000 in penalties. And, with the conclusion of his strike looking out of reach, Andy Reid predicts that the fine will rise even further.

“I don’t know when he’ll be here, but I’ll tell you any work he can get will help him. It’s a pretty fast game,” Reid said of Jones during his press conference on August 7.

Though Chris Jones is still waiting for a large payout from the Chiefs, a recent ad he performed with teammate and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce is generating him money.

Jones and Kelce appeared in a commercial for DirecTV’s “Sports Central” as a team. On August 7, Jones and Kelce posted the commercial on their individual Instagram pages.

Doing that ad is an easy way for Jones to pay off some of the fines he’s accrued as a result of missing training camp without having to tap into his football funds.
