Roquan Smith puts NFL on notice with strong take on Ravens defense
Roquan Smith said ahead of the season that the Baltimore Ravens’ defense is “not weak in any spots.” Through seven games played in the campaign, Smith still doesn’t see a single weakness in the Ravens’ well-rounded defensive unit.
“The way I look at it, from top to bottom, the D-line, linebackers, secondary, I don’t really see any weaknesses,” Smith said after the Ravens’ win in Week 7.
“If we’re all on our game, it’s very hard to move the ball on us, especially score [on us]. “I know they got that one [touchdown] late, but hey, live to see another day. We’ll bounce back.” The Ravens took care of business in Week 7 with a 38-6 win over the Detroit Lions.
The Lamar Jackson-led Ravens offense set the tone early on with four straight touchdown drives in the first half. From there, it was the Smith-led Ravens defense that guided Baltimore to the finish line.
The Lions went 2-for-6 on fourth downs and overall, they rushed for 84 yards in the contest, which is their second-fewest this season.
The Ravens currently rank first in the NFL in multiple defensive stats this year, including points per game allowed (13.9). The Ravens now have their sights set on a road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8.
