“Well Deserved” NFL Hall of Famer Pays Tribute to Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs was on the cusp of two significant career milestones heading into the game against the Denver Broncos in week 14: exceeding 10,000 career receiving yards and achieving his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season.

In the first quarter, a 38-yard pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes lifted the All-Pro tight end past each of those milestones. Travis Kelce has now official surpassed Shannon Sharpe’s receiving yards record of 10,060, and has been congratulated by his Uncle.

Only 27 NFL players have ever had seven 1,000-yard seasons, according to Pro Football Reference. Only ten of them have run for 1,000 yards seven times in a row. Kelce is now the 11th player on that list, tied for fourth place with four other players for the NFL’s longest stretch of 1,000-yard seasons.

Kelce is the only tight end. There have been 333 NFL players with more than 1,000 receiving yards in a season. There were just 26 tight ends. No other tight end has ever had more than four seasons with 1,000 yards. Kelce’s place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame becomes clearer with each career milestone he achieves.
