Bengals’ Chidobe Awuzie Reveals What Caused His ACL Injury
The Cincinnati Bengals’ secondary have a lot of turnover this coming season, but one guy who will return is cornerback Chidobe Awuize. Coming off a torn ACL, Awuzie is eager to return to the high level of play that fans witnessed from him last season.
With the defense’s back-line exodus with Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell electing to depart the Queen City in free agency, Awuzie’s return will be a good news to Bengals’ fans and a big boost to the team.
Awuzie recently told Cincinnati.com’s Charlie Goldsmith that he believes one major factor contributed to his injury versus the Cleveland Browns last season:
“When I got hurt, it was because of my eyes,” he told Goldsmith. “My eyes were kind of googly, and I misplaced my foot. That little lapse of focus and that little doubt can prevent you from making a play. It can be the difference between getting beat or getting hurt.”
Awuzie will be the seasoned presence in a relatively young Bengals secondary this season. Throughout his tenure in Cincinnati, he has regularly risen to the occasion. Coming off an injury, he appears to be poised to do so again.
