Former Standout Makes Statement About Joe Burrow That Fans Will Love

Former Michigan Wolverines standout Taylor Lewan, who isn’t playing in the NFL this season after spending nine seasons with the Tennessee Titans, made a statement about Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on Monday that LSU Tigers fans will love.

Lewan joined “Up and Adams” to discuss a few topics and host Kay Adams pointed out that former Ohio State quarterbacks are 0-6 as starters this season came up.

Adams noted that the 0-6 mark includes games started by Burrow, CJ Stroud, and Justin Fields.

Burrow, of course, spent three years as a backup at Ohio State (where he saw limited action) before transferring to LSU and eventually winning a national championship.

Lewan, who is obviously not an Ohio State fan, quickly said that Burrow shouldn’t be included on that list.

“First off, let’s just talk about Burrow real quick,” said Lewan. “Let’s take him completely out of the Ohio State thing. That’s done. I can’t stand when Ohio State fans are like ‘that’s our guy’. No, no, no. He transferred and won a national championship at LSU.”

This is always a strange debate. And I’m not sure there’s a right answer. Most NFL fans aren’t going to associate Burrow with Ohio State (I’m betting there are still quite a few NFL fans who don’t even realize he spent three seasons with the Buckeyes).

But at the same time, Burrow spent more time in Columbus than he did in Baton Rouge. So while most NFL fans are going to associate Burrow with LSU (as they should), it’s not like Burrow just completely forgot about his time at Ohio State.

That’s part of his journey and it’s part of who he is as a person and as a football player.

Ultimately, it’s a debate that doesn’t matter. But I’m sure it’s still nice for LSU fans to see a former first round NFL Draft pick throwing shade at Ohio State fans for trying to claim Burrow.
