What We Are Hearing About Joe Burrow’s Status for Week 3
There’s been plenty of speculation about Joe Burrow‘s calf injury over the past few days. He aggravated his calf at the end of Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Ravens.
It’s a “very real” possibility that Burrow could miss Cincinnati’s Week 3 matchup with the Rams, league sources tell All Bengals.
The team remains “hopeful” that his calf responds to treatment and are leaving the door open for him to play on Monday night.
“First of all we have to hear what the doctors have to say before we start assume anything,” head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday. “Once we get that information, we have those (conversations), figure out what what we’re gonna do.”
Taylor acknowledged that Burrow’s calf was “sore”.
The Bengals host the Rams on Monday Night Football. The extra day gives him a better chance of being ready.
“I’ll give it a couple nights and a couple sleeps. We’ll go from there,” Burrow said after Sunday’s Week 2 loss.
The Bengals are scheduled to resume practice on Thursday. It would be surprising to see Burrow practice early in the week, even if the team does think he has a real shot of playing against the Rams.
The 26-year-old suffered a calf injury in training camp. He missed five weeks of practice and the entire preseason. He aggravated the injury in Cincinnati’s loss to Baltimore.
