Bengals Suffer Multiple Injury Woes
The Bengals’ training camp begins this week, with Joe Burrow and others reporting on Sunday. Cincinnati is focused on Burrow’s contract extension discussions, but this injury news is equally noteworthy. All three players on this list are available to be activated at any moment throughout camp.
The Cincinnati Bengals announced Sunday that three players have been put on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list ahead of training camp in 2023. Offense tackle La’el Collins, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, and offensive tackle Devin Cochran are the three players.
Collins is in his second season with the Bengals after joining them from the Dallas Cowboys. Collins started all 15 games last season, but he tore his ACL and other knee ligaments at the conclusion of the season. If Collins stays healthy in camp, he’ll likely fight with Jonah Williams for the starting right tackle post after Cincinnati acquired free agent Orlando Brown Jr.
A former Cowboy, Awuzie joins the Bengals a year before Collins in 2021. He also tore his ACL last season, missing nearly half of the season as well as the playoffs. There’s a chance he’ll be ready for the start of the 2023 season, but nothing is certain right now.
Cochran went undrafted in 2022 before joining the Bengals, although he did not appear in any games last season.
