Ex Bengals QB Refuses to Give up on His Career

Andy Dalton, a former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, feels he is still one of the top 32 quarterbacks in the NFL as he starts his 13th season with the Carolina Panthers.

Dalton thinks he wouldn’t be in the league if he didn’t have that attitude, and while he wants to start, he’s also eager to teach the next generation of quarterbacks.

“I view myself as a starter in this league; I don’t think there are 32 guys better than me,” Dalton said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Mac Engel. “But this is the situation I am in, and I understand that. As soon as I don’t think I’m one of the best 32, or a little lower, I’ll be watching football on TV.”

Dalton will assist in the development of Panthers first-round pick Bryce Young. He previously spent a season in Chicago, assisting Justin Fields, and before that, he was Dak Prescott’s backup in Dallas.

Bengals supporters are not afraid to speculate about Dalton’s coaching prospects. He isn’t there yet, but his present trajectory of serving as a professional backup to younger passes appears to be headed in that route.
