NFL Executive Calls Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Front “Ridiciulous”

Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith

In 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles possessed one of the most powerful defensive fronts. They recorded more than 70 sacks as a team, with four individuals recording double-digit sacks. They lost talented players, as any successful club would, particularly on the defensive line. They should, however, not miss a beat in 2023.

Pro Football Focus recently rated the Eagles’ front line as the greatest in football, and NFL Media’s Bucky Brooks went even farther, declaring the unit the top bunch in the NFL regardless of position.

The Eagles’ defensive line has been called “ridiculous” by one NFL executive.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a strong defensive line.
While they did lose some key players, they also added some outstanding young players. Jalen Carter was drafted ninth overall by the Eagles. Then, Nolan Smith, another Georgia teammate, went down, giving them another good edge rusher. This is what one NFL executive said about the unit.

“I was looking at that group earlier (in the offseason) and counted 16 or 17 NFL players. It’s ridiculous,” a rival NFC executive told SI.com’s Eagles Today.

It’s not hard to figure out why so many are bullish on Philly’s defensive front.

The organization’s ability to attract this much talent is unique. The absence of depth is the Achilles heel of so many defensive lines. The Eagles will have to be able to shuffle talented players throughout the game in order to keep legs fresh.

The Philadelphia Eagles will rely heavily on their defensive front this season. In 2023, expect a lot more quarterbacks to be on the ground thanks to the Eagles.
