“Never Saw Him as a Future Star”: Roger Federer’s Parents Make Honest Admission

Swiss tennis star Roger Federer recently celebrated his 40th birthday. After entering this next chapter in life, the maestro still manages to continue being at the top of his game. Sadly, he has been hit with injuries in the recent past that have kept him away from the circuit.

Recently, Roger Federer’s parents Lynette and Robert spoke on a few subjects. However, the one topic that caught attention was when they spoke about their son and if they ever imagined that he would be such a successful individual in his profession.

As reported by Blick, Roger’s parents stated, “People have often said how exceptional his talent was or how well he knew how to handle the ball from an early age.

But we couldn’t have foreseen the incredible success he had afterward. We never saw him as a future star, so we didn’t live with that in mind. For a long time, we just waited to see how things were going to turn out.”

Federer was first noticed when he knocked out Pete Sampras in 2001 at the Wimbledon Championships. That was the last time the American legend stepped on the Center Court at the All England Club.

Since then, the Swiss ace has won 20 Grand Slam titles. He has won 8 Wimbledon Championships, 6 Australian Open titles, 5 US Open Championships, and 1 French Open in 2009.
